BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 29. Iran’s export of petrochemical products fell by 29 percent in value and 9.4 percent in volume for the first 11 months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2023 through February 19, 2024), compared to the same period last year, said Mohammad Rezvanifar, director general of the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA), Trend reports.

The director general noted that Iran exported petrochemical products worth about $18 billion, weighing 45.6 million tons in that period.

Rezvanifar stressed that the main reason for the decline in the value of the non-oil exports from the province was the fall in the price of petrochemical products in global markets.

He mentioned that among the petrochemical products, methanol, valued at $2 billion, was the most exported commodity.

Currently, Iran’s petrochemical production capacity is estimated at 92 million tons per year. By the end of the current Iranian year (March 19, 2024), it is expected to reach 95 million tons.
