By the end of September a delegation of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations will arrive in Baku. The Agriculture Ministry told Trend the key objective of the visit is carry out measures under the project on technical assistance to information and monitoring systems in farmer economies.

The Ministry said that the project was to be set up in July, while it was delayed due to some reasons. The project with the budget of $276,000 will be implemented from September 2005 to November 2006.

The key objective of the project is estimate the efficiency of the activities of farmer economies, as well as establishment of database on actions implemented in the said facilities.

Earlier, the General Director of UN Food and Agriculture Organization, Jacques Diouf, stated during his visit to Baku in April on the plans of opening of the Baku office of the organization in the near future.

Food and agriculture organization of UN (FAO) is the first specialized institution of UNO, based 16 October 1945, accounts more than 160.

The organization follows the aim to render technical assistance in the area of agriculture, production of foodstuffs, products of wood and fish industry. The headquarters of the organization is located in Rome.
