CIS Council of customs heads due in Baku in 2007

The arrangement of control places, the improvement of the legal base on security standards and global computerization were attributed as the urgent tasks for the CIS customs services at the 42nd meeting of the CIS Council of Customs Heads held in Strelne under St.-Petersburg, Russia, on Friday, Trend reports.

Attending the gathering were the Secretary General of the World Customs Organization /WCO/, Mischel Dane, who presented to the head of CIS customs services a strategy on the application of Frame standards on security and world trade, adopted in at the WCO session in summer 2005.

The key objective of the customs employees should be a wise combination of measures, simplifying the customs procedures for the law-abiding participants of the foreign trade, and security demands which sets fighting with the international terror.

The meeting elected Alexander Zherikhov, the head of the Russian Federal Customs Service, the chairman of the Council, and scheduled the next meeting to be held to 2007.

The 29th meeting of the Council of head of customs services at the Integration Committee EurAzES was held in Strelne on Friday. The gathering centered on the development of automated exchange system of information resources and a draft Agreement on control over the replacement of goods containing objects of intellectual property, ITAR-TASS announced.
