The technical mission of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) assessed positively the methodology for calculation of the consumer price index in Azerbaijan, the head of the statistical information department under the State Statistical Committee (SCC) Natella Guliyeva has told Trend.
В"Estimates held by the IMF expert and SCC are similar, which means the Azerbaijani specialists apply methods in compliance with the international standards, Guliyeva noted.
According to her, today SCC follows the latest guidelines by the International Labour Organization, IMF and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development. In this regard there is no need in the commencement of the technical assistance second stage, which IMF provided in the first stage in 1993. The IMF experts confirmed the Azerbaijani experts have reached the level when they may provide assistance for themselves in further improvement of methodology on calculation of the consumer price index (CPI).
NBA thinks, exactly at the result of the IMF recommendations the CPI estimate system has been improved. Meanwhile, the only problem remaining is, as the information consumer it is difficult to follow the inflation processes tendency on scales. The NBA employees would also like to know based on which formulas SCC makes calculations.
