Experts to meet in Tbilisi for preparing meeting of transport ministers

On July 13-15 in Tbilisi, it will be held the meeting of the working group for preparing the meeting of the transport ministers of Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey and Kazakhstan in relation with the opening of the railway connection Kars-Akhalkalaki-Tbilisi-Baku, Trend reports with reference to the State Railway Department of Azerbaijan.

The Azerbaijani delegation at the meeting of experts will be headed by the first deputy transport minister Musa Panahov.

The meeting of the ministers will be held by the end of this month in Kazakhstan. The conducting of the meeting in Kazakhstan is justified through the interest of this country in participating in the project.

The Georgian side has prepared proposals for the project, but they havent been submitted to the other sides. The final variant of the project will be discussed at the meeting of ministers in Kazakhstan.

The project of building railway transport corridor Kars-Akhalkalaki-Tbilisi-Baku includes the construction of the railway stretch of Kars-Akhalkalaki in length of 98 km, with 68 km through Turkey and 30 km through Georgia. The cost of the project is estimated at $400 mln.
