Trainings aimed at the local employees of the Customs Service of the country have been launched in five regions of the country (Nakhchivan, Ganja, Astara, Khachmaz, and Sumgayit) starting from October 9. The main aim of the trainings is to improve the customs official`s knowledge and get acquaint with the advanced experience of different countries in this sphere, Trend reports.
The trainings are being held within the year`s project Improving Customs Service in Azerbaijan financed by the EU Commission and implemented by UNDP.
According to UNDP Local representative Office Baku, during the trainigs, the IT strategy of the State Customs Committee is expected to be discussed, which is under preparation now.
The project in the value of в'¬900.000 has been launched in January 2006, and its ultimate end is to render assistance to the State Customs Committee in its improving the legislative base, as well as its meeting with the world standards, particularly the EU Customs Code, improve and implement the strategy for development of IT of the State Customs Committee.
