The Azerbaijani State Concern AZAL has reached initial agreement for acquisition of six 40-50-seat airplanes from French ATR to realize air flights within the country, a government source told Trend.
Presently the government is considering the possibilities of financing the purchase of the airplanes that will take approximately $90 mln.
According to the information provided by the State Concern, the French airplanes are more effective than other airplanes of this class by two times. At the same time, yet Azerbaijan hasn't officially refused to acquire airplanes from Ukraine, one of which sustained crash in December of last year.
Till the definition of the reasons of the crash, AZAL stopped to purchase and exploit airplanes РђN-140-100. The РђN-140-100 airplanes were acquired on base of the contract signed between AZAL and Kharkov State Aviation Enterprise on 8 July 2004.
