Azerbaijan Increases Export of Light Oil in January-August

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend / In January to August of 2007 the Azerbaijan International Operating Company (AIOC), which is involved in the development of the Azeri- Chirag -Guneshli fields (ACG) has exported 20,129 mln tons of Azeri Light oil, 7.5mln tons more than last year.

Since April the AIOC has ceased exports via the Baku-Novorossiysk and by railway in the direction of the Georgian port of Batumi (except the companies Exxon and Devon, participants of the AIOC).

AIOC announced that in January to August of 2007 exports had been ceased via the Baku-Supsa (western route) due to repairs in the pipeline. In January to August of 2006 a total of 4,708 mln tons of oil was transported via this route.

In January to August export via the Baku-Novorossiysk (northern pipeline) made up 696,800 tons in comparison to 1.667mln tons over the first five months of 2006. Export in the Georgian direction towards the Batumi port made up 749,125 mln tons of oil in January to August of 2007, as compared to 3.149mln tons in 2006. During this period 18.647mln tons of oil was transported through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline

In August AIOC (excluding ExxonMobil and Devon companies) terminated oil export via the Baku-Supsa route due to repairs in the pipeline. In August 2006 a total of 543,807 tons of Azeri light oil was transported in this direction.

In August AIOC (excluding ExxonMobil and Devon companies) terminated oil export via the Baku-Novorossiysk route and in the direction of Batumi port. In August 2006 a total of 92,812 tons and 217,116 tons of oil was transported in this direction respectively.

In August 2007, 2.676mln tons of oil was exported via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline. Export via this route made up 1,114mln tons in August 2006.
