Azerbaijan, Baku, January 13 / Trend , E.Ismaylov /

In 2011, SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) will have additional volumes of gas - 1-1.5 billion cubic meters, SOCAR head Rovnag Abdullayev said on Jan. 13.

"In 2011 we expect further 1-1.5 billion cubic meters of gas, which can be sold on the neighboring markets," said Abdullayev.

According to him, underground gas storage facilities in Azerbaijan enable the country to keep such volumes of gas this year, but the gas infrastructure gives us the opportunity to sell them.

In 2010, SOCAR plans to export at least 500 million cubic meters of gas to Russia, while considering the possibility of bringing this volume to one billion cubic meters. Also this year, about one billion cubic meters of gas will be exported to Georgia. The possibility is considered to export 500 million cubic meters of gas to Iran this year, said Abdullayev.

According to him, SOCAR implements a large program to increase gas production in Azerbaijan, which will increase gas exports to Iran and other neighboring countries.
