KazMunaiGaz, SOCAR start development of feasibility study for Trans-Caspian oil transport systems

Next week an international tender to determine a contractor for the preparation of feasibility study for the Trans-Caspian oil transport systems will be announced, KMG head Kairgeldy Kabyldin said today in Baku.

Next week an international tender to determine a contractor for the preparation of feasibility study for the Trans-Caspian oil transport systems will be announced, KMG head Kairgeldy Kabyldin said today in Baku.

"We jointly with SOCAR start development of the feasibility study. Next week we will announce an international competition for the feasibility study for the Trans-Caspian segment - this is Aktua-Baku," Kabyldin said.

Tran-Caspian system is built to transport oil from Kazakhstan on routes via the territory of Azerbaijan with access to the Mediterranean Sea through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline and the Black Sea - along the transportation routes Azerbaijan-Georgia. The second passage envisages both the oil transportation by railway, and consideration the possibility of building a new oil pipeline Baku - Black Sea.

Kabyldin said that by the autumn works on preparation of feasibility study for routes of pipeline Baku - Black Sea will start.

The initial capacity of Trans-Caspian transportation system will be 23 million tons per year. It envisages the construction of tankers and terminals in Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan, and connecting pipelines.
