Minister: Iran discovers new gas field

Iranian Oil Minister Masoud Mirkazemi said that the total volumes of gas hit 260 billion cubic meters on the discovered field, of which 80 percent are extractive, Fars news agency reported. The new field is called Khayyam. It is close to the point Asalue in the Persian Gulf, he added.

Iranian Oil Minister Masoud Mirkazemi said that the total volumes of gas hit 260 billion cubic meters on the discovered field, of which 80 percent are extractive, Fars news agency reported. The new field is called Khayyam. It is close to the point Asalue in the Persian Gulf, he added.

The total cost of the field is estimated at $50 billion. One can extract 24 million cubic meters of gas per day by drilling 18-20 wells, he said. The reserves of gas condensate hit 220 million barrels on a new field, of which one can extract 100 million barrels, minister said.
