By Fatih Karimov - Trend: Iran has doubled its strategic fuel reserves, managing director of Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company Nasser Sajjadi said.

At present, the volume of strategic fuel stored at facilities and power plants has increased by 2 billion liters compared to the past year, Mehr news agency reported Oct. 9.

He added that fuel oil and diesel that has been stored at power plants has been increased by over one billion liters. Meanwhile, fuel oil and diesel that has been stored at facilities around the country has been increased by over one billion liters.

There is no concern about supplying power plants and industries with fuel during winter, he said, adding that the growth rate consumption of diese, fuel oil, kerosene, and liquefied gas has been negative since the beginning of the current Iranian fiscal year (March 2015).

He also said that a plan is on the agenda to export oil products, especially diesel, to the neighboring countries. Currently, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Armenia, Afghanistan, Iraq, and Kurdistan Regional Government are among the main markets for Iranian diesel.
