Turkey begins privatization of land in 3 provinces as part of oil and gas exploration

Privatization of land plots has begun in three provinces of Turkey within the framework of oil and gas exploration, Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey told Trend.

According to the ministry, land plots with a total area of ​​75,000 hectares will be privatized in the provinces of Adana, Osmaniye and Mersin.

“The Turkish company Arar Petrol AS will be engaged in the exploration of oil and gas in the indicated provinces,“ the ministry said. "Arar Petrol AS appealed to the ministry on June 13, 2018 in order to obtain a license.”

A law was passed in Turkey in April 2014, allowing oil exploration in forests and national parks.

According to the report of the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, a total of 56 wells have been drilled as part of the exploration of new oil and gas fields in Turkey since 2014, 54 of which are onshore and two are at sea.
