By Leman Zeynalova - Trend:

Laying the flow line as part of the project for development of Azerbaijan’s Absheron gas field will start in the fourth quarter of 2019, a source in Azerbaijan’s oil and gas market told Trend.

Regarding the early production scheme (EPS), which is being implemented by French Total and Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR as part of the project, the source said that EPS is going well: drilling of the well is completed; now it is planned to conduct well completion and install Xmas tree [Christmas trees are used on both surface and subsea wells. The primary function of a tree is to control the flow, usually oil or gas, out of the well.]

EPS involves a tie-back to a platform near existing SOCAR infrastructures. Total will build the subsea installations and SOCAR will build the platform where the gas and condensate will be gathered before being moved to its own Oil Rocks facilities.

“As for subsea production facilities, fabrication of equipment is ongoing and we plan to start laying flow line in Q4 2019 and umbilical in Q2-2020. The fabrication of the platform to be installed at Oil Rocks field started,” said the source.

SOCAR and Total signed a framework agreement in 2016 on the main contractual and commercial principles regulating the first phase of development of the Absheron field.

The first phase of the field’s development envisaged drilling one well at a sea depth of 450 meters. It is planned to produce up to 4 billion cubic meters of gas at the second stage.

Absheron’s reserves are estimated at 326 billion cubic meters of gas and 108 million tons of condensate, according to estimations of the Total specialists.
