Kazakhstan’s National Company KazMunayGas (KMG) and Norway’s Equinor ASA have signed a Joint Study Agreement, Trend reports with reference to the press office of KazMunayGas (KMG).
The signing took place on September 24, 2019, within the framework of the meeting of Chairman of the Management Board at KazMunayGas Alik Aidarbayev and Senior Vice President for Exploration at Equinor ASA Tore Loseth.
The participants of the meeting noted the importance of Kazakh-Norway oil and gas cooperation and expressed interest in joint exploration of some oil and gas fields on the territory of Kazakhstan in order to receive subsurface use agreements in the future.
With this in mind, the companies signed the joint study agreement as part of their long-term mutually beneficial cooperation. The document was signed by Chief of Staff, Managing Director for Development at KMG Dastan Abdulgafarov and Tore Loseth. The agreement oversees conducting geological and geophysical studies to assess the hydrocarbon potential of oil and gas areas in Kazakhstan.
“We hope that this agreement will become the basis for successful cooperation in the future. Both companies are ready to consider Equinor as a strategic partner on agreements on development and exploration in Kazakhstan,” Aidarbayev said.
