The total volume of investments made by Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR in Ukraine since 2009 stood at around $300 million, Sergey Shteluk, economic advisor at Ukrainian embassy in Baku, said in an interview with Trend.

“I would like to especially emphasize Azerbaijani corporate investments in entrepreneurial capital and targeted business projects of SOCAR. Cumulative investments made by SOCAR since 2009 amounted to approximately $300 million,” he said.

Shteluk noted that positive dynamics has been observed in the operation of Azerbaijani companies in Ukraine from 2015 to 2019 in terms of making investments.

He pointed out that in this context, positive trend continues this year in the process of investing in all spheres of Ukraine’s economy by Azerbaijani companies. Around 97 percent of all Azerbaijani investments in Ukraine in the amount of $220 million account for such spheres as wholesale and retail trade, construction and industry, added the advisor.

Azerbaijani investments will continue to be in demand in Ukraine’s trade, construction and industrial spheres, according to Shteluk.

The most promising economic areas of Ukraine for Azerbaijani investments may be tourism, hotel business, scientific and technical developments, agriculture and IT technologies, he added.
