Azerbaijan boosts gas exports

Azerbaijan exported 5 billion cubic meters of gas in the first quarter of 2021, which is 39.5 percent more compared to the same period of 2020, Trend reports citing the report of the Ministry of Energy.

According to the ministry, the volume of exports of Azerbaijani gas to Turkey increased by 15.8 percent year on year, amounting to 3 billion cubic meters.

During the specified period, Azerbaijan exported about 1.1 billion cubic meters of gas to Europe.

At the same time, Azerbaijan’s gas exports to Georgia amounted to 784 million cubic meters, the report reads.

As reported, exports of Azerbaijani gas to Turkey via the Trans-Anatolian Gas Pipeline (TANAP) amounted to 1.4 billion cubic meters.

Some 95 billion cubic meters of gas have been exported from the country’s Shah Deniz field to date.

In 2020, Azerbaijan exported over 13.3 billion cubic meters of gas, which is 16 percent more compared to 2019.

Gas production in Azerbaijan last year surpassed 37.1 billion cubic meters.
