SOCAR Turkey expanding use of green energy

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 15

By Leman Zeynalova – Trend:

A total of 22 consumption points of SOCAR Turkey, including its headquarters in Vadistanbul and subsidiaries will use electricity produced from green energy, Trend reports with reference to Turkish media.

“Considering that the electricity consumed at all these points, including our headquarters in Istanbul, will reach 14.5 million kilowatt-hours in total in 2021, approximately this amount of electricity consumption will now be met from renewable sources,” SOCAR Turkey CEO Zaur Gahramanov said.

Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR is among the companies meeting international standards for environmental security in industry.

The main directions of the company’s environmental activity are envisaged in the Environmental Policy.

SOCAR continuously conducts monitoring on its production sites offshore and onshore in order to control the environmental security in its departments and facilities.

The company has been actively using wind and solar energy facilities in order to minimize the fuel consumption and increase the energy efficiency. Most of the control and measuring devices installed on the pipelines run on solar energy. In addition, wind turbines and solar panels are used in a number of enterprises to illuminate office buildings.
