Uzbekistan reveals volume of electricity generated since beginning of 2021

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 22

Uzbekistan increased electricity generation from January through May 2021 by 8.98 percent compared to the same period in 2020, Trend reports with reference to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.

According to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan, the country's enterprises generated more than 28.81 billion kW/h of electricity during the reported period.

Also in 5M2021, Uzbekistan produced about 16.66 million Gcal of heat, which is 1.73 percent less compared to the same period in 2020.

Earlier it was reported that the generation capacity in the electric power sector of Uzbekistan by the end of the year will increase from 14,000 to 15,800 megawatts, or by 52 percent compared to 2016.

For, this in October of this year, a thermal power plant with a capacity of 240 megawatts will be put into operation in the Tashkent region, a gas piston power plant with a capacity of 174 megawatts - in the Khorezm region, and a solar power plant with a capacity of 100 megawatts (514 megawatts in total) - in the Navoi region.

Also, in December, two thermal power plants with a total capacity of 470 megawatts will be commissioned in the Tashkent region, power plants with a capacity of 270 megawatts and 220 megawatts - in Bukhara and Kashkadarya regions, respectively. Also, it is planned to commission a solar power plant in the Samarkand region with a capacity of 100 megawatts (total of 1,060 megawatts) by the end of the year.

At the same time, 4.6 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity will be generated at the newly created facilities in the autumn-winter period (annual production capacity is 12 billion kilowatts / h).
