BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 4. Iran has begun the construction of 24 solar power plants worth about 1 billion euros across 12 provinces, Trend reports.
The new plants will have a total capacity of 1,500 megawatt hours, according to data from Iran's Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Organization, and will improve Iran's renewable energy potential, which is currently around 1,090 megawatt hours.
The project was granted to Pasargad Energy Development Company, which will provide 25% of the cash, with the remainder coming from Iran's National Development Fund.
The solar power plants will be located in Tehran, Alborz, Qazvin, Kerman, Hamadan, Razavi Khorasan, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari, Lorestan, North Khorasan, Fars, Kurdistan and Gilan provinces.
In the first half of the current Iranian year (March 21 through September 22, 2023), Iran’s renewable energy power plants produced 234 million kilowatts of electricity.
