Azerbaijan's customs revenues spike since early 2020

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 9

Revenues from Azerbaijan’s State Customs Committee (SCC) to the state budget reached 1.3 billion manat ($764.7 million) from January through April 2020, which is 3.2 percent less compared to the same period of 2019, Trend reports citing data of the SCC.

Revenues from Azerbaijan’s State Customs Committee (SCC) to the state budget exceeded 1.4 billion manat ($823.5 million) from January through April 2019.

The total amount of revenues since the beginning of the year till April increased by 36 percent.

In the reporting period, the amount of collections on customs duties amounted to 327.5 million manat ($192.6 million), or 24.3 percent of all revenues, value added tax (VAT) – 963.9 million manat ($567 million), or 71.5 percent, excise taxes – 43.8 million manat ($25.8 million), or 3.3 percent.

The road tax amounted to 12.6 million manat ($7.4 million), making up 1 percent of all revenues.

Revenues from customs duties increased by 4 percent in April 2020 compared to the same month of 2019, from value added tax (VAT) decreased by 0.4 percent, from excise taxes - by over 2 times. Revenues from the road tax dropped by 4.4 percent.

State budget revenues from the State Customs Committee are generated in the following four directions: customs duties, VAT, excise tax and road tax.
