The total number of exchange transactions decreased by 370 compared to the same period of 2019, while their share in the national currency decreased by 4.7 percent to make up 1,265 transactions (89.7 percent of the total number). In US dollars, 145 transactions (10.3 percent) were made, which is a growth of 46 percent compared to the same period of 2019 (99 transactions).

The total volume of registered exchange transactions, including in national currency and dollars and amounting to 3 billion manat ($1.7 billion) and 179.5 million manat (nearly $105.5 million), respectively, showed an almost two-fold drop, while the volume of transactions in foreign currency grew by 10 times.

The share of the volume of transactions made in the national currency slid by 5.3 percent to make up 94.4 percent of the total volume. Accordingly, the share of transactions made in foreign currency went up by 5.3 percent due to a two-fold cut in the volume of registered transactions in the national currency.

In March 2020, the volume of transactions in dollars sharply soared, showing the maximum growth from the beginning of the year. During the month, a total of 20 transactions worth 171.4 million manat ($100.8 million) were made, which is 97.7 percent of the total volume of transactions in foreign currency.

The volume of transactions in the national currency, having shrank in February, edged up in March and April, but then declined by 20 percent in May.
