Weighted average interest rates on loans up in Georgia

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 1

The weighted average interest rates on loans in the banking system of Georgia in May 2020 increased by 1.2 percentage points month-on-month to 13.6 percent, Trend reports referring to National Bank of Georgia (NBG).

According to NBG, the weighted average annual interest rate on loans in foreign currency decreased by 0.1 percentage points to 6.8 percent. Loans in national currency increased by 1.2 percentage points up to 16.9 percent.

Interest rates on loans in national currency for individuals decreased by 0.3 percentage points to 21.6 percent, while interest rates on loans to legal entities increased by 0.3 percentage points and amounted to 12.3 percent per annum.

As for foreign currency loans, interest rates on loans to legal entities decreased by 0.1 percentage points up to 6.8 percent. In turn, interest rates on loans for individuals increased by 0.4 percentage points to 6.5 percent.

Compared to May last year, interest rates on loans in foreign currency decreased by 0.5 percentage points, and on loans in national currency increased by 2.1 percentage points.
