Volume of cross-border money transfers to Uzbekistan decreases

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Aug. 18

Volume of cross-border money transfers received by Uzbekistan decreased by seven percent in the period from January through July 2020, Trend reports citing the Central Bank of Uzbekistan.

During first seven months of 2020, it reached $3 billion, and increased by seven percent or $217 million compared to the same period of 2019.

Volume of funds sent from Uzbekistan to other states reached $516 million, which is 47 million or eight percent less than the same period of the last year.

A surplus in cross-border remittances was $2.5 billion, which is $170 million (or six percent) less than the same period last year.

The surplus on cross-border money transfers decreased in the first half of 2020 by $116 million (five percent) to $2 billion, compared to the first half of 2019.

The volume of cross-border money transfers to Uzbekistan amounted to $2.4 billion in 1H2020, which is six percent ($156 million) more compared to the same period of last year.
