Amount of transactions on interbank national settlement system down in Azerbaijan

The number of transactions carried out through the interbank national settlements system in Azerbaijan amounted to 14.05 billion manat ($8.3 billion) as of early May 2021, which is by seven percent less than as of early May 2020, Trend reports with reference to the statistics report of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).

In general, 90,000 payment transactions were carried out through this system.

Some 6.4 million transactions worth 2.9 billion manat ($1.7 billion) were carried out through the settlement clearing system on small payments, which shows an increase in annual circulation by 30 percent.

The banks’ receipts through instant money transfer by early May 2021 amounted to 160.9 million manat ($94.6 million), which shows an increase of 2.2 times on an annualized basis.

Some 93,000 transactions in the amount of 105.1 million manat ($61.8 million) were carried out on non-bank money transfer, which is 2.3 times more than in the same period of 2020.

The turnover on payment cards through ATMs and POS terminals in Azerbaijan amounted to 2.7 billion manat ($1.6 billion) as of early May 2021, which is 39.8 percent more than in the same period of last year.
