Iran, Georgia to increase trade co-op

TEHRAN, Iran, Nov. 22

The Georgian and Iranian officials have reached an agreement to increase the volume of economic and trade cooperation.

Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Tbilisi Akbar Ghasemi made remarks during his meeting with Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Natela Turnava.

The two sides have discussed a variety of issues, including facilitating the trade relations and dealing effectively with criminals, Iranians` property, re-exports, and new perspectives for businesses, in addition to the removal of barriers to Iranian investors.

Akbar Ghasemi emphasized the need to provide legal protection to investors, hold provincial economic and trade fairs and strengthen the road transport network.

Turnava and Ghasemi also discussed ways to address other topics such as holding economic and trade exhibitions at the provincial level, programing for enhancing road networks, following up six partite sessions on Corridor between Persian Gulf and Black Sea, promoting startups, holding economic webinars, encouraging the private sector, and enhancing balanced tourism.

Iranian Zagros Airlines and Qeshm Airlines are resuming Tehran-Tbilisi-Tehran flights, connecting the capital cities of Georgia and Iran starting this month, the Georgian Civil Aviation Agency announced.

Zagros Airlines operates flights between Tbilisi and Tehran twice a week from November 1, while Qeshm Airlines carries out flights four times a week after November 15.
