BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 12. Azerbaijan's Innovation and Digital Development Agency (IDDA) is represented by stand in the COP29 Green Zone, a source in the agency told Trend.

According to the source, on the first day of the event, the IDDA booth showcased presentations themed "Using open data opportunities for a sustainable world", "Strengthening digital Azerbaijan: 'mygov' platform, uniting public services for all", "What is the Innovation Center of Azerbaijan and its role in the innovation ecosystem of technology parks", and "From documents to digital control: the innovative approach of mygov to data exchange".

The IRIA booth also showcased projects of BERKM, Recepta, and Epoint technology park resident startups.

COP29 will feature a series of panel sessions, presentations, and workshops on innovations and digitalization that will be held, and the IDDA booth will be open in the Green Zone. The booth will familiarize the event guests in details with the organization's work in the fields of digitalization and innovation and the projects it promotes, also enabling them to discuss potential partnership and cooperation opportunities.

On November 16, panel discussions and presentations will be held on the topics "Digital green horizons: integrating the public sector and technology for a sustainable future" and "Innovation and digitalization for climate action".

The opening ceremony of the much-anticipated COP29 conference kicked off on November 11 at the Baku Olympic Stadium.

Representatives, leaders, and climate experts from around the globe gathered to mark the beginning of what is set to be one of the largest climate events of the year.

The decision to host COP29 in Azerbaijan was made at the COP28 plenary session held in Dubai on December 11 of last year.

The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, signed in June 1992 at the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro, aims to prevent dangerous human interference with the climate system. The “COP” (Conference of the Parties) is the highest governing body responsible for overseeing the convention’s implementation.

A total of 198 countries participate in the convention. Unless otherwise agreed, COP is held annually. The first COP took place in Berlin in March 1995, with its secretariat headquartered in Bonn.
