BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 4
By Nargiz Ismayilova – Trend:
The first representative office of the artificial intelligence community in the Commonwealth Independent States (CIS) has been opened in Azerbaijan’s Baku, Program Manager at the SUP.VC center Tariyel Aghazade told Trend.
Aghazade said that the main goal of the community is the development of artificial intelligence and the association of engineers in this area.
“Deeplearning.ai is an artificial intelligence community that brings together events, conferences, and online courses. Co-founder of the Coursera platform is Andrew Ng, who is also a professor at Stanford University since 2002,” he said.
“A few days after the opening of the representative office in Azerbaijan, the first event was held. The speaker of the 'PIE & AI: Baku, Azerbaijan' event was the data-engineer of the Neuroil startup Turgut Abdullayev,” said Aghazade.
“The theme of the event was Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers from R (RBERT). It is interesting that the event in Baku was the hundredth anniversary event. About this, Andrew Ng personally informed millions of community members from 68 cities and 38 countries,” he said.
Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers (BERT) is a technique for NLP (Natural Language Processing) pre-training developed by Google. BERT was created and published in 2018 by Jacob Devlin and his colleagues from Google. Google is leveraging BERT to better understand user searches.
Aghazade said that director of SUP.VC company Vusal Karimli is the official representative of the new artificial community in Azerbaijan, and SUP.VC is the main partner of the community.
“In the next 10-15 years, artificial intelligence will affect almost all areas of our lives. According to the PwC 2017 report, artificial intelligence will bring $15 trillion to the global economy by 2030. Not to have Azerbaijan drag behind these trends, we now have the Azerbaijani representation of Deeplearning.ai, one of the most popular platforms of the global community of artificial intelligence. We hope that this platform will play a large role in training specialists in the field of artificial intelligence and help expand artificial intelligence community in Azerbaijan,” Karimli said.
Various academic steps in the field of artificial intelligence are being taken in Azerbaijan, he added.
“The example is artificial intelligence laboratory, created in conjunction with BP and ADA University, and Tech Academy, specializing in Python. Hereby, the main goal of the community is to conduct at least one event per month for engineers in Azerbaijan,” said Karimli.
