ASAN Visa terminals will open on the borders of Azerbaijan with Georgia and other countries, Head of the administration of the Azerbaijani State Tourism Agency Kanan Gasimov said, Trend reports.

Gasimov made the remarks during a forum entitled “Tourism business sector: current status and prospects” organized by the Public Council under the Azerbaijani Agency for the Development of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) in Baku.

ASAN Visa terminals will simplify the process of obtaining visas for tourists coming to Azerbaijan and minimize the risk of delays on the border or problems with entering the country.

The issues related to the development of tourism business and its prospects were widely discussed during the forum held in Baku with the participation of the Azerbaijani Agency for the Development of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) and the State Tourism Agency.

Touching upon the issue of attracting investments in the tourism sector in the country’s districts, Gasimov stressed that together with the Ministry of Economy, the work is underway in this sphere and the discussions on setting the required amount are being held.

One of the most important topics today is to create the fund for the development of the private tourism sector. This issue may be solved next year, he added.

"Our policy aimed at the development of tourism focuses on the implementation of the Azerbaijani strategic road map,” Gasimov said. “In this regard, we provide information on the carried out work and prepare the monitoring assessment reports at the end of each year. We will analyze the collected data in December and it will be possible to review it at the beginning of 2020.”

One of the priorities of the Azerbaijani strategic road map is the creation of up to 150,000 additional jobs in the sector of trade in goods and services, as well as in the tourism sector by 2025.
