The volume of passenger transportation by all types of vehicles in Azerbaijan amounted to 689.9 million people in the first half of 2020, having dropped by 28.7 percent compared to the same period of 2019, Trend reports citing a report of the State Statistical Committee.

According to the committee, 1.3 million passengers were transported by railway during the reporting period, which is 19.1 percent less compared to the same period of last year. At the same time, 8,700 passengers were transported by sea, which is 2.2 percent less compared to the same period of last year.

In 1H2020, the number of passengers transported by air slumped by 60.4 percent, amounting to 446,800 people, while the metro transported 64.1 million people, which is 45 percent less compared to 1H2019.

According to the committee, 624 million passengers were transported by road in the first six months of this year, showing a decrease of 26.4 percent year-on-year.

At the same time, over 600.1 million people were transported by buses, a decrease of 26.3 percent over the year, while taxis transported over 23.8 million people, an annual drop of 29.3 percent.
