A total of 3.19 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in the Imam Khomeini port of the Khuzestan Province (southwestern Iran) in the 6th month of the current Iranian year (August 22-September 21, 2020), Trend reports citing Ports and Maritime Organization of Iran (PMO).

While in the 5th month of the current Iranian year (July 22-August 21, 2020), 2.77 million tons of cargo was loaded and unloaded in this port, the report added.

According to the report, about 1.69 million tons of goods were loaded and 1.5 million tons were unloaded in the sixth month.

“During the reporting month, 1.53 million tons of goods were exported and 1.37 million tons were imported through the Imam Khomeini port,” the report said.

As many as 6,930 tons of goods were loaded for transit through this port over the sixth month.

According to the report, at the same time, about 142,000 tons of goods were loaded and 123,000 tons were unloaded for cabotage in the port.

“More than 6,560 tons of goods were loaded, and 7,420 tons were unloaded for other purposes within the same month at the Imam Khomeini port,” the report noted.

According to the report, 1.14 million tons of essential products, 173,000 tons of metal products, 436,000 tons of construction materials and mining materials, 551 tons of equipment, vehicles, and spare parts, 361,000 tons of chemicals were loaded and unloaded at the port in the 6th month of the current Iranian year.

“In addition, 24,000 tons of leather, clothing, fiber, wood and other similar goods, 81,900 tons of container products and 976,000 tons of oil products were loaded and unloaded during the reporting month,” the report said.

In total, 5.5 million tons of cargo were loaded and 4.5 million tons were unloaded through Iranian ports in the 6th month of the current Iranian year.
