Georgia sees decrease in number of flights

Georgia served 50.4 percent fewer flights from January through October, Trend reports via the avianews.ge.

According to avianews.ge, Georgian Sakaeronavigatsia served 50.4 percent fewer flights in January-October, 2020 comparing to the same period of 2019. As of the statistics, Sakaeronavigatsia served 58,509 flights in the first 10 months of 2020, while the number amounted to 117,955 flights in 2019. Accordingly, the decrease was 50.4 percent.

Meanwhile, flights in the airspace of Georgia decreased by 39.2 percent in January-October 2020, while the number of take-offs/landings was 70.8 percent down.

"In order to prevent the spread of COVID-19, some countries temporarily closed the airspace for regular flights. Mobility was reduced and tourists voluntarily or involuntary canceled planned trips. The number of flights around the world was decreased, which had a negative impact on the relevant statistics," the publication reports.
