Uzbekistan Railways JSC and Russian Railways Logistics have reached an agreement on the organization of an agro-express train for transportation in refrigerated containers from Uzbekistan to Russia, Trend reports referring to the press service of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis (Parliament) of Uzbekistan.
It is noted that the agreement was reached within the framework of the international industrial exhibition "Innoprom-2021" held in Tashkent in April.
"This new direction will have a positive impact on the development of Uzbekistan's exports, especially exports of fruits and vegetables," the lower chamber noted.
Also, following the meetings of representatives of the Ministry of Transport and Uzbekistan Railways with the administrations of the railways of the CIS and Baltic countries, as well as Iran, a number of discounts were received for 2021, which will increase the export potential of local producers and enhance the competitiveness of Uzbek products.
According to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan, by the end of 2020, Russia became the main exporter of Uzbek fruits and vegetables - $255.4 million (an increase of 1.55 times), or 25.3 percent of the total export of fruits and vegetables from Uzbekistan.
