BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 6. The volume of transit traffic from Germany through the territory of Kazakhstan increased by 47 percent and amounted to 2,300 tons in the first half of 2022, as was noted during the meeting of Minister of Industry and Infrastructural Development Kairbek Uskenbayev with Director General of the Trade Department in the German Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Action Dominik Schnichels, Trend reports.

During the meeting, issues on cooperation in the field of transport and logistics potential as well as industry and mining.

Germany is one of the major economic partners of Kazakhstan and is among the leaders in terms of investment. Trade turnover between the two countries increased by 1.6 percent and amounted to $1.2 billion in the first half of 2022. Over 1,000 legal entities with the participation of German capital are working in Kazakhstan.

Uskenbayev noted that the Kazakh side is ready to continue cooperation in order to increase the turnover of goods by road between the Parties.

As for cooperation in the field of civil aviation, today AirAstana Kazakh airline and Lufthansa German airline operate 15 regular passenger flights a week between the two countries.

In general, the automotive industry in Germany is the leading industry. The Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development of Kazakhstan is interested in developing close cooperation ties.

"Within the framework of the Kazakh-German cooperation in the field of industry, 14 projects have been implemented for a total of $719.4 million with the creation of more than 2,200 jobs. Separately, I would like to mention a major joint project on the production of agricultural machinery with the 'CLAAS' agricultural machinery manufacturing company. As of today, the company is working steadily and at least 80 tractors have been produced this year. We are satisfied with the company's entry into the Kazakh market and have high hopes for further deepening of industrial cooperation," Uskenbayev informed.
