Marine frieghts move upward in Azerbaijan

BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 15. Cargo transit by sea in Azerbaijan exceeded 628,100 tons in January 2024, increasing 11.2 percent year on year, Trend reports.

According to data from the country's State Statistics Committee, passenger transportation by sea totaled 1,900 individuals in the reporting month, an increase of 11.8 percent from January 2023.

Meanwhile, freight transshipment through Azerbaijan's seaports totaled more than one million tons. Transit cargoes accounted for 80.8 percent, or 813,500 tons.

Additionally, oil accounted for 52.3 percent of Azerbaijan's maritime export cargo transit.

As of February 1, 2024, the cargo volume in Azerbaijan's ports was 69,700 tons.

In 2023, overall cargo traffic in Azerbaijan was 230.2 million tons, up 5.3 percent from 2022. Additionally, passenger transportation topped 1.923 billion persons, representing an 18.7 percent gain compared to 2022.
