BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 18. The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded at Iran’s Imam Khomeini port in Khuzestan Province (south-western Iran) amounted to 3.98 million tons in the 11th month of the current Iranian year (January 21 through February 21, 2024), compared to the same period last year, the Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO) said, Trend reports.
Data from PMO showed that 2.15 million tons were loaded and 1.83 million tons were unloaded at the port.
Nearly 1.44 million tons of cargo were exported and about 1.65 million tons were imported through the Imam Khomeini port over the reporting month. Besides, 420,000 tons of cargo were loaded at the port for transit.
During the 11th month, 283,000 tons of cargo were loaded, and roughly 183,000 tons were unloaded at the port for cabotage.
At the same time, 59 tons of cargo were loaded, and 3,050 tons were unloaded for other purposes.
Meanwhile, 1.28 million tons of essential products, 159,000 tons of metal products, 402,000 tons of construction and mining materials, and nearly 287,000 tons of chemicals were loaded and unloaded at the Imam Khomeini port during the 11th month of the current Iranian year.
Moreover, 85,800 tons of leather, clothing, fibers, paper, and wood materials, 63,700 tons of container products, and about 1.7 million tons of crude oil and petroleum products were loaded and unloaded in this port within the mentioned month.
In total, 12.2 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the 11th month of the current Iranian year. Of that, about 5.3 million tons were loaded and 6.93 million tons were unloaded. This is an increase of 3.5 percent compared to the same month last year.
