Kazakhstan, Lithuania eye launching direct interstate flights

Kazakhstan’s Civil Aviation Committee under the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructural Development held a meeting with the Lithuanian civil aviation authorities on the launch of Nur-Sultan - Vilnius and Almaty-Vilnius regular air flights, in the Kazakh capital (Nur-Sultan), Trend reports citing the ministry’s press service.

According to the press service, the parties also discussed the appointment of the Hungarian "Wizz Air" airline as the operator of the mentioned routes.

It’s planned to launch the flights in the 1st quarter of 2022, the press service said.

The Civil Aviation Committee’s Deputy Chairman Saltanat Tompiyeva and the head of the Road and Aviation Transport Policy Group of the Lithuanian Ministry of Transport and Communications Vladislav Kondratovich discussed cooperation in the field of air transportation and exchanged a signed Protocol of Intentions to open the regular flights.

The final decision on this issue will be made after receiving permission for the flights by interdepartmental commissions to prevent the emergence and spread of COVID-19 in the two countries.
