BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 4. The trade turnover of agricultural products between Kazakhstan and Tajikistan increased by 38 percent and totaled $578 million in 2022, Kazakh Minister of Agriculture Yerbol Karashukeev said on the sidelines of the Kazakh-Tajik Business Forum, Trend reports via the ministry.

As the minister noted, the perspective of trade development between the countries has great potential, and the positive dynamics in the export of agricultural products to Tajikistan has already been observed.

In addition to traditional cereals, flour, and sunflower oil, Kazakhstan also started exporting ice cream, sausage products, and products from meat and soybeans.

The Kazakh minister also added that there is potential to further increase the export of Kazakh confectionery and chocolate products, pasta, lamb, beef, poultry meat, and dairy products.

According to the minister, from Tajikistan, Kazakhstan imports mainly fruits, vegetables, dried fruits, and nuts.

Karashukeev expressed confidence that the agreements reached during the business forum are going to contribute to the further development of cooperation in the field of agriculture between the two countries.

The Kazakh-Tajik Forum was held on May 3, on the eve of the state visit of President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon to Kazakhstan, which is scheduled to last until May 4.
