ASTANA, Kazakhstan, July 12. Kazakhstan plans to establish a new state company (Теңіз жасағы) to manage oil spill responses in the Caspian Sea, Trend reports.
The draft was posted for public discussion on the governmental regulatory legal acts portal.
According to the draft decree, the government proposes to establish the company with 100 percent state participation in the authorized capital. The organization will be under the auspices of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
The new company will oversee the use, operation, management, and maintenance of the North Caspian Environmental Base for Oil Spill Response and other infrastructure supporting offshore oil operations in the Caspian Sea sector. It will also focus on preventing and responding to oil spills at sea and on shorelines.
Additionally, the company will participate in projects involving the manufacturing and servicing of oil and gas equipment, as well as providing technical support in the oil and gas industry.
