Kyrgyzstan's and Uzbekistan's border guards have agreed to settle the situation around Sokh, and ethnic Uzbek exclave in the territory of Kyrgyzstan, the press service of Kyrgyzstan's border guard said on Wednesday, Itar-Tass reported.
Earlier, several citizens of the two countries suffered in a conflict as they argued about pastures.
"The sides discussed the situation at the state border," the press service said, and the measures to improve security in the bordering territories.
According to the agreement between the countries, Uzbekistan will withdraw its armoured units from Sokh, which had been brought there during the clashes between Kyrgyzstan's Army and international terrorists there over 1999-2000.
The two countries have agreed to "prevent any land or water-related disputes along the border between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan." The regional authorities intend to have bilateral agreements on the use of pastures.
Besides, the two countries will put up artificial obstacles at certain disputable parts of the border. Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan will leave "the existing border and customs control stations" and will remove the stations of law enforcement and other authorities.
The sides will try to "speed up the activities of the joint intergovernmental commission on delimitation and demarcation of the state border."
