Water level at Kyrgyz Lower Ala-Archin reservoir hits maximum capacity

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 27. The volume of water in the Lower Ala-Archin Reservoir in the Alamudun district of Kyrgyzstan’s Chuy region reached 51.2 million cubic meters as of April 27, Trend reports with reference to the Ministry of Agriculture of Kyrgyzstan.

According to the ministry, the reservoir is fully filled with water at the moment.

The department said that the distribution of irrigation water from the reservoir to the Alamudun and Sokuluk districts will begin within a week.

The ministry added that repair work was carried out in the reservoir last winter to ensure the uninterrupted operation of the facility and the constant provision of irrigation water.

Lower Ala-Archin Reservoir consists of two reservoir ponds: eastern and western, which are merged to form a single reservoir.

The volume of the reservoir is 51.2 million cubic meters, the total length of the dam is 3.16 km, and the maximum height of the dam is 24.5 meters.

The reservoir supplies irrigation water to an area of 11,116 hectares, including 8,455 hectares in the Sokuluk district, and 2,661 hectares in the Alamudun district.
