BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, September 8. Kyrgyzstan’s "Chakan HPP" energy company has completed major repair works at its power stations in preparation for the autumn-winter period, Trend reports.

All 19 hydro units at the company’s hydroelectric power plants have been repaired. Extensive repairs on three hydro units scheduled for this year have been fully completed.

The "Chakan HPP" company generates, transmits, and sells electricity. The company includes a cascade of eight Alamedin small HPPs with a capacity of 29.8 MW and the Bystrovskaya HPP.

The Alamedin HPP cascade is located on the Big Chuy Canal, which draws water from the Chuy river, the main source of irrigation and hydroenergy resources for the Chuy valley in Kyrgyzstan. The flow of the Chuy river is regulated by the Ortotoy reservoir.

According to the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan, the country’s energy sector enterprises generated 13.9 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity in 2022, which is 8.3 percent less than in 2021. Approximately 86 percent of this volume was generated by hydroelectric power stations.

A total of 550 million kilowatt-hours of electricity were exported from Kyrgyzstan in 2022, which is 0.7 percent more than in 2021.
