Ambassador of Tajikistan Muzaffar Huseynov held a meeting at the Foreign Ministry of Uzbekistan, the Foreign Ministry said.
According to the Ministry, the Uzbek-Tajik agenda was discussed at the meeting. The meeting focused on ecological and other issues of mutual interest.
The Ecological Movement of Uzbekistan appealed a week earlier to the UN General Assembly to protest against the negative impact of the State Unitary Enterprise "Tajik Aluminum Company" (TALCO) on human health and environment.
The Movement demanded the immediate stop to TALCO's activity, conducting an environmental impact assessment of TALCO involving influential independent international experts in order to determine the enterprise's damage to the population and the surrounding area's flora and fauna. It further demanded that TALCO take full responsibility in the form of compensation for any damage to public health and regional environment.
