General William M. Fraser III, current Commander of United States Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM), arrived in Turkmenistan for consultations, the U.S. Embassy in Turkmenistan reported.

Turkmenistan, which has a long border with Afghanistan, is the list of his regional tour.

"General Fraser met with his military counterparts from Turkmenistan to discuss issues of common interest in maintaining peace and security in the Central Asian region. This is his second visit to the region as Commander of the U.S. Transportation Command," the report says.

Fraser became Commander of the U.S. Transportation Command in October 2011.

The United States Transportation Command is responsible for all air, land and sea transportation for the U.S. Department of Defense.
