The embassy of Turkmenistan in Saudi Arabia held a briefing dedicated to the country's achievements in the foreign policy, the 'Neutral Turkmenistan' newspaper reported March 1.

Representatives of the King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies as well as diplomatic missions and international organizations, accredited in Riyadh, participated in the briefing.

During the briefing, it was stressed that while carrying out an Open Door Policy, Turkmenistan implements large-scale projects in sustainable energy, transport and ecology.

Turkmenistan has authored a number of international initiatives. In December 2017, a resolution titled "Strengthening the links among all modes of transport to achieve sustainable development goals", initiated by Ashgabat, was unanimously adopted at the 74th meeting of the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly.

The activity of the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia with headquarters in Ashgabat was discussed during the briefing.

During the briefing, it was also stressed that the cooperation of Turkmenistan with the UN and its specialized organizations, mainly, the UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) serves as a platform for implementation of the East-West and North-South transport projects.

The participants of the briefing also reviewed the results of the 7th Regional Economic Cooperation Conference on Afghanistan (RECCA VII), which was held in Turkmenistan’s capital Ashgabat in November 2017.

Special attention was paid to the launch of construction of the Afghan section of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline on Feb. 23, 2018, the laying of power transmission lines and fiber-optic communications along the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (TAP) gas pipeline and the commissioning of the Serhetabat-Turgundi (Turkmenistan-Afghanistan) railway.

In November 2017, it was reported that Saudi Arabia, in particular Saudi Aramco is exploring investment opportunities in Turkmenistan's fuel and energy industry. Saudi Arabia supports the construction of the TAPI gas pipeline.
