Representatives of the Uzbek and Czech governments will discuss cooperation issues in the areas of trade, the economy and investments at the sixth meeting of the joint Czech-Uzbek Intergovernmental Commission for Economic, Industrial and Scientific-Technical Cooperation, the Czech diplomatic mission in Tashkent said today.
According to the Czech embassy, the meeting will be held in Prague on Dec. 3-4.
A Czech delegation will be led by the First Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Milan Hovorka and from the Uzbek delegation, Deputy Minister of Foreign Economic Relations, Investments and Trade Akmal Kamalov.
The agenda includes issues about the possibilities of cooperation in the areas of energy, renewable energy sources, environmental protection, the pharmaceutical and food industry and prospects in the fields of transport and tourism.
Moreover, the parties will discuss the further development of Uzbek-Czech trade and industrial cooperation during a 'round table', organised by the Czech Chamber on economic ties with the CIS countries.
It was previously reported that economic relations between Uzbekistan and the Czech Republic are currently governed by a number of documents on trade and economic and scientific and technical cooperation, mutual protection and promotion of investments as well as avoidance of double taxation.
Thirteen Uzbek-Czech joint ventures operate in Uzbekistan. A number of Czech leading firms and companies opened their representative offices in Uzbekistan. They work in such areas as food, textiles, oil and gas, production of plastic products and tourism.
