Uzbekistan, Poland enhance bilateral cooperation

Uzbek Foreign Ministry’s officials and Polish Ambassador Marian Pshezdzetski discussed practical issues of further enhancing of the Uzbek-Polish relations, including the schedule of contacts for the near term and 2013 as a whole, as well as the schedule of meetings of bilateral cooperation institutions on Monday, Uzbek Foreign Ministry said.

Uzbek Foreign Ministry's officials and Polish Ambassador Marian Pshezdzetski discussed practical issues of further enhancing of the Uzbek-Polish relations, including the schedule of contacts for the near term and 2013 as a whole, as well as the schedule of meetings of bilateral cooperation institutions on Monday, Uzbek Foreign Ministry said.

During the meeting the sides stressed the mutual interest in enhancing the legal framework and the development of relations between the parliaments, ministries and departments, business circles, scientific and educational institutions of the two countries, as well as in tourism sphere.

Both sides also exchanged views on international issues and considered topical issues of regional character.

As it was reported, in September 2012 Warsaw hosted the fifth meeting of the Polish-Uzbek intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation.

Participants of the meeting stressed that normative-legal framework has been formed at the state and government levels, which creates favorable conditions for the development of various forms of economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.

At the meeting the sides exchanged views on the prospects of development of economic cooperation, discussed the issues of further strengthening of relations in various industries in detail, as well as in agriculture, finance, and tourism spheres.

The parties also reaffirmed their willingness to work constantly seeking new opportunities to enhance bilateral cooperation in these spheres.

Within the meeting the intergovernmental commission held Uzbek-Polish business forum, which was attended by representatives of economic organizations and financial institutions, as well as leading Polish companies.

Polish firms and companies presented a package of proposals on possible participation of Uzbek partners in projects and programs in the energy, exploration, mining and mineral processing, pharmaceuticals, agriculture and other areas.

The sixth meeting of the Polish-Uzbek intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation is scheduled for autumn 2013 in Tashkent, within which the Polish-Uzbek Business Forum will be held. The Forum is planned to discuss specific plans and projects for joint implementation.
