Uzbekistan has imported furniture for almost $60 million since the beginning of the year, Trend reports with reference to the data of the State Statistics Committee.
For eight months of 2020, Uzbekistan imported furniture worth $57.2 million, which is $12.9 million more than in the same reported period in 2019.
South Korea became a leading furniture exporter to Uzbekistan. The country exported furniture for $26.6 million.
The second place was shared by China and Turkey. These countries sent furniture to Uzbekistan for $8.6 million each.
The third-place belongs to Russia. Producers from this country imported products worth $4.1 million to Uzbekistan. Russia is followed by Lithuania -$ 1.6 million, Ukraine - $1.5 million, and Italy - $1.3 million.
In total, this year Uzbekistan imported furniture from 46 countries, while in 2019 the number of countries Uzbekistan imported furniture from amounted to 51.
Furniture manufacturers have brought timber worth $610 million to Uzbekistan since the beginning of the year. The import of one cubic meter of timber costs the furniture makers $500. And $1,500-2,000 are paid for transportation costs for the import of one wagon of timber products from Russia.
