The United States USAID Agency for International Development will support the projects for handicraft enterprises of women and individual artisans in Uzbekistan, Trend reports referring to the Uzbek Media Outlets.
In this regard, the Women and Girls Empowerment Fund has been established within USAID’s Agribusiness Development project.
The fund began accepting applications for co-financing the introduction of new technologies in the amount of 5 million soums ($462) to 50 million soums ($4,623) for individual artisans and from 50 million to 200 million soums ($18,492) for registered women's enterprises in the handicraft sector. The deadline for applications is February 15, 2021.
The goal of the project is to expand the economic opportunities of women, especially in the country’s rural areas. In 2021, USAID, within the Agribusiness Development Project, provided an additional $1 million to support women who start their own businesses.
