Uzbekistan attracts credit from China to purchase CNG buses

BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 23. The National Bank for Foreign Economic Activity of Uzbekistan signed an agreement with the China Development Bank (CDB) to attract a new credit line for 1.8 billion Chinese Yuan ($261.1 million), Trend reports via the Uzbek bank.

This credit line will make it possible to finance Uzbekistan’s purchase of passenger buses from China.

Uzbekistan will purchase buses from major Chinese bus manufacturers, in particular, Chinese King Long will sell 200 city CNG buses to the Uzbek side, while Yutong Bus Uzbekistan plans to buy 500 units of 12 meter-long CNG buses, as well as 300 electric buses.

The purchase will be carried out within the framework of the decree of Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev "On measures to reform the public transport system" dated February 16.

The signing ceremony took place in China’s Beijing between the Uzbek National Bank’s Chairman of the Management Board with the Executive Vice President of CBD.

During the meeting, the sides emphasized progress in the jointly implemented investment projects, projects aimed at developing the infrastructure sector, as well as small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

To date, Uzbekistan’s National Bank and China Development Bank implemented more than 650 projects in the field of transport, energy, industry, and SMEs.
